I'm rather surprised by that wage bill,  £155million per year, that's unexpected. I would have expected it to be lower. So  does this mean that Wenger is actually willing to spend, just that he spends on the wrong players?

Instead of giving wages to a player based on what they're worth or they're performance, Wenger does this "equal wage system" where everyone gets like 60-70k a week and no one really gets less and only one or two players get more, and not much more at that.  So, basically, a lot of players are overpaid.

woohoo yeah im stoked with it! didnt expect that at all Frank Halai was an absolute beast but i think the canes were pretty bad as much as we were good. gotta stay realistic man we will know a lot more after the Crusaders match on friday, might have to go check it out!

He deserves all the accolades he's getting at the moment. Gary Neville stated that the best players in the world influence matches on their own, be it scoring goals, providing assists or inspiring your team when the chips are down.

This year, Gareth Bale has ticked all the categories above. Simply unplaya-bale right now. Let's hope he carries that form into the North London Derby to prove that he deserves to be mentioned behind Messi & Ronaldo as the best in the world.

If Spurs do qualify for the UCL, I'd think Bale would prefer to stay. But its hard to resist when Real/Barca/Bayern come knocking at your door with a huge offer, say 50-60m region.

AST had to say this about the latest figures:

These figures contain few surprises. They show that Arsenal yet again made a profit from the sale of their best players and that the club has large cash reserves.

Arsenal fans have contributed to this financial health through paying some of the highest ticket prices in world football. AST members want to see this money used for more, and better, investment in the team.

The results also show the club does spend considerable money on wages, approximately £150m per annum. But the football decisions made on player investment, player selection and player wage levels are not delivering a more competitive team.

The AST believes the club are financially well set to improve on the decline of the last few seasons. The remaining question is whether it has the boardroom leadership and football decision making expertise to make the money count.

1. Just to do a comparison, season ticket prices for the Gunners are priced at £2,000 whilst Bayern's cost approximately £120. I was shocked when I found out the disparity between both of them.

2. The fans do not consider the replacements 'world-class' at all.

Pressure's on the board & Wenger to splash big in the summer, regardless of whether they'll manage to get the UCL spot, which could prove detrimental to signing a marquee name.

Taking all of the things that are happening right now, the North London Derby couldn't have come at a better time. Will this match show us whether the balance of power has finally swung to White Hart Lane? Or can Arsenal prove to the world that they're still ahead of Spurs?

Tottenham Balespur!...If you keep relying on one player to win you games, against the good teams you're gonna be found out. United did a very good job of shutting down Bale for example and Spurs had to wait until the very end for an equalizer. If Adebayor has another shocker in front of goal, I don't see why Arsenal can't win this.

wtf?  I can stomach Podolski getting that much, although it's still too much, but Mertesacker gets 80k and the Russian Messi gets 78k?  I thought that they got more like 50k.

 

What's Walcott get now? 75? 78?

True, and when you factor in the 30 at the end, it's like 52m of expenditure not on players, so it's more like a 100m player wage bill.

Lol. I was out shopping for the house with my mate and we were missing half of the first half, to piss him off (He's a Barca fan) I told him Madrid were leading 1-0 through a Ronaldo penalty. Come home and find out its true, he is pissed

I missed quite a bit, but I did see Jordi Alba diving towards the end and getting pissed off at Ramos. I'm hoping they get the second as well, would be even better after Barcelona equalize.

In his final year of his contract, Henry was getting 200k/week.

I disagree with Podolski getting that cuz he isn't worth that amt at all.

Many bums at Arsenal are overpaid due to this 'Socialist Wage Structure'.

They need to revamp it to become competitive once again. Produce the same old shite & Wilshere's the nxt 1 to go.
