So I finally got confirmation today that this was the new OM forum. Glad to be back to discuss Manga with you guys. Hope to see some of the older people I knew from OM around.

I like a variety of manga and am following several series, inc One Piece (lord knows why I'm still reading Bleach).

This fight as godawful. Maka vs Chrona was by far the longest hyped fight in the series, and what do we get? A really anti-climactic two chapter fight. Remember how hyped up Black Star and Mifune's final fight was? Ohkubo freaking delivered on that fight, we got exactly what he promised and maybe even more. The fight itself was great, and so was the meaning behind it. This though...? Was absolutely terrible, given how much Maka vs Chrona was built up. So we have Black Star's mere presence making Maka retarded so he can bail her out. Seriously, she physically assaults Chrona when she KNOWS that isn't effective, she learned as much from their second fight under Shibusen. And she conveniently forgets she can fly so Black Star can look cool and save the day. Why did Black Star manage so well against Chrona when he was casually smacked away by her before they went to the moon (which was BEFORE Chrona got a massive power up in the form of the Kishin)? Why the **** is he there in the first place? This is Maka's fight, it was always supposed to be her fight. To prove she's not alone? She has Soul, that should be enough. That would also emphasize their partnership.On that subject... their partnership was completely demeaned in this fight. This fight should have shown just how far they've come in the manga. They should have utilized everything they've culminated throughout the course of the series. Maka's Grigori soul and the wings that come with them, the Black Blood dress, Maka's anti-demon wavelength and Demon Hunter, Soul's piano harmonizing with Chrona's maddened soul, and maybe his sound attacks being boosted by Maka's wavelength (you know, like it was foreshadowed back when Soul went crazy in Russia). But NOOOOOOO. They didn't even try doing any of that. Just Maka attacking physically. Why? So Black Star can shine. And then Spirit comes in and finishes Chrona in a few pages. How ****ing anti-climactic. This also makes absolutely no sense, considering Stein using Spirit (he should be much better at using him than Maka considering how experience the two are at working together) had some resistance from Chrona during her first appearance, back when she was absolute fodder to her current self. But why am I complaining about an issue of power levels? They stopped making any sense back at Salvage. Anyways... This just took one massive dump all over Maka and Soul's partnership. This was supposed to show how much they've grown together, Ohkubo made Maka making Soul into a Death Scythe into something significant, and their teamwork has been emphasized upon the whole manga. This is like the ****ing anime where Soul went down and Maka finished the Kishin on her own, which was horrible on so many levels. And considering Excalibur recently showed up to Shinigami-sama's side randomly (ALSO LIKE THE ANIME), and Kid is on his way with the Kishin showing himself... this is going to go exactly like the anime. Well, at least I know what I'm in store for. And really, that was what pissed me off more than anything in these last two chapters. More than the underwhelming action scenes, more than Black Star stealing the spotlight, and more than Chrona getting fodderized despite all the hype.It's painfully obvious Ohkubo is just trying to finish this manga as quickly as possible. Which is just sad because this was one of the better shounens, guess he just got tired of it. Between the Kishin being found so easily despite having been searched for since chapter 20-ish, the rushed as hell Justin fight, Noah being made completely irrelevant in a single page, and the way this fight ended up... there's no way you can deny Ohkubo just wants to see the end as fast he can.Only positive thing I can say about this recent chapter was it at least proved Spirit is stronger than Black Star. Strongest in Shibusen my ass.I'm not so much angry as I am disappointed. This was my favorite manga for the longest time and I've hated what it's become in the last few years. I'm sticking with this until the end, no matter how bad it might be.

I think we just have to be insane to keep on reading Bleach. But eh, after so much that has gone on..I just wonder how much more Kubo can troll us.
