I've been part of this community for long time hue. Even tho I don't post much I'm a veteran lurker and I could not help but notice that the forum popularity was in decline. I myself am one of those person that stopped going as often as before.Im pretty sure everyone else noticed it 2, the forum is slightly dying day after day. i recently saw the fb page of one manga become active , it made me happy but it was only for a short period of time. Are even the admins gettin bored of the forum or what lol ?

Please consider the time of year. Students were busy w/ exams & travel for the break between semesters. Older persons were busy w/ increased work due to the holidays.

You can singlehandedly revive the forum by posting more & lurking less? Be a Hero, Be Verbose, Save the Forum!

I didn't even know we had a FB page. ._.

It is sort of difficult to grow the community because we aren't connected to a manga reader anymore (crazy to think that OM lost its reader 4 years ago now), but we are sort of lucky as a lot of the larger reading sites out there don't really have forums. Still, it is December and that time of year where people are traveling, studying for finals, and getting ready to graduate. So a lot is going on.

The community certainly isn't as big as it was on v2.... But is that so bad? Seems like everyone is more tight knit as a result, plus the members who stuck around really love this place so everyone actually tries to make a positive contribution.

Its been mentioned that activity varies depending on the time of year, but more importantly activity will vary depending on the efforts of members. If everyone who loves it here puts effort into making this place better, it will become better, and more guests will be encouraged to join the discussion.

Post by post, topic by topic, and user by user, a forum is the sum of its community.

So all in all I don't think there's much to worry about, because this is a community made up of close, dedicated, and fabulous users/staff.

If you are worried about the forum then, as d1r13 said, do your part in making it better!

Yeah, I can never think of what to post on the FB page, so it's not as active as it could be.  I keep telling myself I should do more but no clue.

I think there are 3 factors that may have contributed to an overall decline. When you consider the time of year where you have students taking exams and/or going away for the holidays and the fact that this forum is no longer affiliated to a manger reader, you can understand the decline. But I also think there is another reason. Naruto.

Naruto is a manga that is responsible for bringing a lot of casual readers to not just this site, but to many others. If you combine the fact that it is over (until the new spin off) and that many people didn't really like the way it ended for various reasons, I think that has contributed to the decline. It's something I foresaw happening before Naruto ended and I created a thread here to discuss the topic.

Anything !!! From meme's to simple question.Whats nice about social media's such as fb its that even the most irrelevant thing like sharin a video of how to speak with a giraffe can attract people.

I plaid guilty , i for one have to admit that the main reason why im not coming on the forum as much as before is not because of my schedule or anything but simply cuz i talk with all the person i like here on skype and interact with them on daily basis .

The naruto theory is actually kinda interesting, And what will happen when one piece (prolly never gonna happen) and bleach will also be over ? lol

Also i dont think the time of the year has anything to do with itI.

Though all else aside I think what we've retained on the forums is respectable all things considered

The thing is that OMF hasn't been a Community Forum, but rather a forum where people discuss.

First, the Server shut down and moving to a new place reduced the numbers. The big 3 quality dropping dramatically didn't help either, well more or less as people really liked to post how terrible were every chapter. And last, Naruto, one of the Big 3, ending is another factor.

I agree with what @hubris said. From the perspective from someone who heavily lurked OMF for several years, one thing I like about the new forums is the closeness between the members. Even though it's usually the same people who post and discuss things, there's still a sense of community, albeit a small close knit one, but one that is welcoming nonetheless. One of the reasons why I finally joined in the first place. Although I wasn't "physically" around for the glory days of old OMF (I still lurked), I still like the new one  :^_^:

I also think there'll be others like me who'll creep out from the depths of lurking and finally join OMF to add some "life" back into it.

I took a look at the post statistics. It matches up with what we've gotten the last several months: 600-1200 posts per day, depending on the time of the week.

Obviously, this incarnation of OMF is a lot smaller than the previous one. And that's okay. We'll be here as long as you guys want us to. As long as people still enjoy coming here, then that's worth something. I certainly don't think it's a bad thing that people are talking off the site; if we facilitated friendships and connections, then that's great. I'm not very concerned with the idea of growing bigger.

That said, you guys are the community. If we want to try and shift directions a bit, we can talk about it.

I used to be a pretty big contributor to this site. My tastes have changed drastically over the years, as has my amount of free time, but I still use OMF as a sort of social network hub for a lot of the friends I've made. Many of the people I met here I speak to every day, either here through PMs/SGs/profile comments or over something like Steam/Battle.net/texting. I also play games with a few of them online, so even if we don't post, the community is still active elsewhere.

Lack of main board posting or public appearances by members doesn't mean death. We're still here. We're just a little older, and a lot busier.
