Hello, I'm Beldi and I thank you for taking the time to read my post and having me here on One Manga Forum. 

 

I run an illustration studio and we're thinking to do an playing card deck inspired by Anime/Manga illustration styles. So to see how they look we made some prototype cards.

 

I'm attaching them here and before we move any further with these we will love to get feedback from such an awesome community like this one.

All the characters have various name with specific meanings, such as the ones bellow:

 

Queen of hearts--- " ai " - love.

Jack of spades: "mamoru" - to protect, guard. "I'll protect you."

King of spades: "kami"- God. This term can also be applied to any supernatural being with a specific domain/charge/sphere.

Hi SlumLordCat77 , thank you for your reply. Im glad you like it. 

 

Im open to any constructive feedback in order to get this deck done, I'll be adding new sketches as we progress along.

Awesome design so far, though I think what's missing is that kind of obvious visual cues that screams "King" or "Queen" etc. I'm not really an artist so I can't really help in giving some examples. But I needed to take a look at the "Q" or "K" to guess what the card is. So some cues might really help, though I'm digging the drawing style so far.

Hey GintaMan , thank you for responding to my post. Yes, you're absolutely right. Im revising the K, Queens in the upcoming days and i'll post new updates as we go along. Feedback is positive so far and very helpful.

King of Hearts:  "Kokoro" - Common extensions of this meaning are "sincerity" and "spirit/willpower."

 

 

Jack Of Club: "Gaki" - young, immature person. Often translated as "brat" or "punk."

That Jack looks awesome! The King of Hearts looks fine that way, like a compassionate king. Make the King of Spades more like a stern or powerful man, the King of Diamonds more regal or luxurious and the King of Clubs more like a down to earth king or some sort. This is a good deck! I'm digging the designs!

Hi there,

 

Got the "King of Diamonds" ready.

 

We selected: "Chikara"- strength, power . We might do a version with symbolizing wealth but we couldn't pin point a correct meaning for "wealth" related to manga/anime. Any suggestions ?

A scepter maybe? Or like stylish bling (rings and crown)? I'm not sure but I like your current version, he looks kingly and snobbish enough. Haha!

The Magical Jack of Diamonds looks great but might be better with the Jack of Clubs theme. Since I was a kid, I have always imagined that the Jack of Diamonds has always been a snobbish knight. LOL

Hello everybody ! Thank you for following on this topic . Its been some time since i posted news about this deck but we're almost done with it and we would like your feedback on it , ill post new updates in the next couple of weeks, we plan to funding it via KickStarter. What do you think ? What type of rewards would you think are cool beside the deck.

Glad you like them ! i really hope we can finish the final designs in the next weeks, we have all K,J,Q in color we're working on doing the Aces and the tuck box design, its been a long year and we really want to get this project completed
