They betrayed Rai long before Previous Lord decided to enter eternal sleep so their were traitors from start.
Zarga betrayed Rai because he didn't believed in Lukedonian ideals. He knew his path was wrong but he couldn't stop himself once he crossed the line.
Urokai betrayed Rai because Rai gave humans more importance. Rai killed his own kind for the sake of humans + Frankenstein.
Gradeus: Didn't got chance to use his powers as he pleased. Rai would have killed him if he tried to abuse his powers.
Roctis: Love for his crazy daughter. Was hesitant till the last moment of betrayal.
Plus Raskreia herself said in season 3 that her father respected the wishes of the traitors when they said that they didn't want to enter eternal sleep. Previous Lord allowed them to not enter eternal sleep.
(Maybe author retconed that)
Think this was recon considering how she was annoyed with the grandpa, who she was latter ok with when she realized Lord told him not to go to sleep to lead the new generation of CL
Thus implied that other then him, everyone else should have gone to sleep.
True, but there was also the scene how he was annoyed about Lord going to sleep and him going to sleep as well.
Didn't I say that for him, as it was her fault really? So I wouldn't really call him a traitor but just bad luck dad.
Well, with the exception of Ignus and Ragus, while they had thoughs of betrayal, they didn't really take actions until Lord's sleep.
True, but at least they felt more emotions then Ragus in their meeting, at least a sense of saddness they were fighting. Unlike Ragus.
They made Rai fight Muzaka 820 years ago so I think they were having the thoughts of betraying long before Previous Lord decided to enter eternal sleep.
I don't think author retconed this in season 3 when Raskreia was angry with Gejutel for his supposed betrayal. She mentioned that Gejutel and the traitors were the ones who didn't wanted to enter eternal sleep and Previous Lord respected their wishes.
Even in his recorded message, the Previous Lord said that the clan leaders who agree with him has decided to enter eternal sleep along with him.
Oh. need to watch OVA as well then.
Though, still going to say Ragus shouldn't be that close to Rai based on their interactions during the fight.
I think that it was the arrival of Franken & the weird (from Traitor POV) closeness between Rai & Franken, that spurred the rapid growth of jealousy & caused the sudden change in Traitors.
Before Franken, they truly thought they could influence Rai & work around him.
After Franken, when it became apparent that Rai was giving preference to humans (lowly, undeserving in Traitor POV), then the relationship changed & they categorized Noblesse as obstacle to their new life, new world order.
I went digging, and you were 75% right,
But, the recorded message didn't say anything about clan leaders not agreeing with him. Rather, he asked Gejutel not to go to sleep.
so my bad with the memory then.
Apparently Old Lord didn't realize that the Traitor Gaju wanted to steal the world from Lascrea's grasp.
He thought they just wanted a bit more time (which could mean hundreds of years) before obediently following him into eternal napdom.
NOTE: Left convo about future chapters in previous thread.
