The Japanese call them hikikomori—people who've become so withdrawn socially that they refuse to leave their homes for weeks and even months at a time. For Sasami Tsukuyomi, who's attempting to pass her first year of high school despite being a shut in, it's more than just a word. Fortunately though, she lives with her older brother Kamiomi, who just happens to be a teacher at the school Sasami is supposed to attend. Not to mention, her "Brother Surveillance Tool" which lets her view the outside world via her computer and will, theoretically, allow her to readjust to interfacing with people again. What it mainly does, however, is let her view her brother's interactions with the three very odd Yagami sisters, who inexplicably seem to have had their ages reversed and have various types of "interest" in Kamiomi. And then things start to get really weird... Magical powers? Everything turning into chocolate? Is life via the web warping Sasami's brain, or is it the universe that's going crazy?

That's the summary I haven't read before watching. I believe that's how a SHAFT series has to be watched in order to maximize the WTF output. Needless to say I loved it. SHAFT is at it once again, I sense my season favorite in this one.

I was actively screaming "What the hell!?" whilst watching this.

Other than that it's kinda...well, I'm not sure if it'll last the 3 episodes rule for me.

EDIT:

Oh yeah, this has amazing art and animation. I would say best this season, but I don't have many shows to compare it to =|

As usual, SHAFT waits until the second episode to actually explain what's happening. Long story short, it's Suzumiya Haruhi with less inferiority complexes and more SHAFT.

Also, the "ending" is fantastic.

Yep, looks like I'm dropping this. I say that, but I might check the next episode out of curiosity. I preferred the charm it presented in episode 1, but lately things have been too...slow? Somehow its not as engaging as it was before. Hopefully there's something there to make me pick this up again, but for now, off to the "attempted" list.

I'll just blame the forum reboot for the lack of SHAFT fanboys in this topic. That must be it... I'll be waving the biased "Best show of the season!!!"-flag by myself then.
