Excellent, it's been a while.

So the Dragons aren't all push-overs at least. Still that was pretty cruel.. getting dragon meat / hide using that kind of method...

AND A SURPRISE ATTACK RELEASE!!

So Hitler is confirmed as a drifter. Well it makes sense.. I suppose he doesn't have or needed to have powers.

"constant class discrimination" might just be racism (literally too haha)

Anyway, finally the Count meets up with the group, and I am surprised that his lackeys were such bigshots such as Aliester Crowley and Nicolas Flamel O_O I always thought they were just random people. Perhaps this is why they don't age (Philosopher's Stone :P ). I do wonder what they could add to the war effort...depends on how magical alchemy is.

Also Dwarves!! Hahaha wonder where the women are at.

If you look at the map there, I think the dotted area is the one they currently occupy. :P That's a big mark up if they can get the Count's land..

I just got into this manga and I really love the history in it.  I also love how Drifters makes drawing the line of "good" and "bad" almost meaningless.  The theoretical "good" side are the drifters and co. and the "bad" would be the offscourings and co. but in this day and age thinking of Hitler as good may seem crazy.  This manga simply takes the base traits of individuals and their circumstances and places them as a drifter or offscouring.  Doesn't matter what their world viewed them as.  Also, I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but I am pretty sure that the black king is Jesus.

See, if Chuck Norris had a love child with Bruce Lee and that child was trained by the Spartans it just MIGHT have the absurd levels of badass testosterone found in Escanor's left testicle. Escanor is the epitome of pride and badassery and he has no issues with letting it be known. His mere presence has been enough to end some powerful baddies, and he will make sure any fool willing to challenge him knows how pathetic their feeble attempts are. OP is an understatement and he wears it so gracefully.

Yeah. I wonder if Drifters is going to be banned in some places. Might generate more awareness of it XD

I would hate to see it banned any place just because of something like that.  I highly doubt the mangaka is trying to offend anybody.  Hitler was, while not a great man from most view points, undoubtably a great leader and a man who could rouse the masses.  Jesus was scorned and arguably betrayed by humanity and died a very slow and miserable death because of it.  It makes sense, especially when looking at them both as strictly historical figures, to place Hitler as a drifter and Jesus as an offscouring.  This is something I find very interesting and I hope people aren't super sensitive about this work of fiction.

We are 3 chapters behind the Japan release. Not too bad I guess. Does Hirano Kouta have other manga or jobs to do? Cause it's weird that this manga is monthly released and the number of pages is same as that of weekly manga (actually even back when he did Hellsing it's already like this)

Chapter 37 is out!

Nice chapter! We are 5 chapters behind so hopefully the scanlators catch up. This has the potential to be better than Hellsing

I wish Hirano makes this manga faster. Like other monthly series in other magazines.

I'm a little confused about who those characters are. But yeah, glad to have a new chapter, it had been so long. I liked a lot the war arc, and even though this chapter was too short (they always are) and was a transitional one, it makes me look forward to what is next.

47 - 48.

Wonder if the Black King plans anything for the other residents (i.e. the non-human races). If he only discriminates against humans, then it would be troublesome since the other armies might defect.

Mhm. That was a pretty nice way to picture it. I liked the ending of chapter 48 a lot.

I'm a bit lost in the story sometimes, and the mysteries surrounding the black king certainly don't help xD

Anyway, it's pretty interesting how the black king can give a whole culture to a race in such a short time. Makes you wonder how he did that. And actually, I liked the fact that the humans were considered as cattle, it's pretty cool to see the roles reversed.

The main obstacle for creating civilization for the monsters was:

1. Agriculture
2. No common language (including system of writing to more easily pass on/store information)

As long as you have those two as a base, then everything else can be done step by step relatively fast.

Besides Black King is probably Jesus so once he has united the various tribes with a cult of personality, then implementing the changes that needed to be done was probably easy.. well, easier than when he last tried.

Assuming it's right though, that opens up a big weakness for the Black King: Future Tech. They don't have any "techonological" offscourings right now (ofcourse the mangaka can fix this), so that's one advantage that the Drifters have for now.
