I spent the whole chapter wondering if the Jesus theory was still valid.

I couldn't even reach a conclusion xD

But it's a Jesus out of character.

At this point, it could even be Stalin, though the cult of personality doesn't match, Stalin would have showed his face XD

Nah, if it was Stalin he'd have massacred millions of his own people first.

Still if Jesus hypothesis is false, then we can at least peg him as someone from after the invention of guns. Perhaps even someone from after the invention of the discipline of anthropology.

Thinking about it, Nietzsche comes to mind.

I've just caught up for the first time in like three years (starting from the beginning again), and... I still think he's Jesus. He was called “Messiah of Monsters” and “accustomed to becoming their saviour”, can heal, multiply food, was a carpenter, didn't do anything worthwhile until he was 30, and has the respective wounds in hands and feet. He also calls guns “overpowered”, which hints to him coming from an age before them. Plus, some of his henchmen are from the 20th Century, so knowledge isn't that surprising.

The Black Lord is either the fattest Red Herring ever or, well, just what he seems to be

Oh yeah, his henchmen could have just told him how his whole thing went. lolz

There's also the image of the sacred heart, and the healing of the sick (or in the case of the dragon, the overhealing).

Best bet is still Jesus it seems.

Maybe I can stomach him being an Offscouring... if only to see him gloriously beheaded.... but even then, the fact that he'd be considered as a historical figure on par with the likes of Nobunaga just makes me want to vomit ;_;

This is good since it conserves the armies of the two. I don't think the generals are going to be killed, but rather "convinced" to serve under the new regime (since they'll be needed to command their armies)

And that picture… who is it?

I'm actually thinking of Stalin for some reason. My memories are too fuzzy to remember if we've heard about the generals to have an idea of who the person on the portrait might be, but Stalin was the first one I thought of for some reason. For a general, Hitler or Napoleon could be fun to see too.

I'm on the fence whether I expect the plan to be busted or not...

It would greatly hype Nobunaga's strategical skill if it worked, but it is also the chance for Hirano to move the plot by bringing in any of the other parties (Black King, the Hansa (who'd probably break the peace if they had the chance to, looking at chapter 46)) in a way that seems threatening and suspenseful. Hmm.

What a chapter.

So many interesting new characters.

I loved the scene between Jeanne and the black king.

And his hand, his hand... He reminds me of the Baldwin IV of Jerusalem, the Leper (or Leprous). Just because of the state of his hand.
