More and more mysteries are coming to light, I'll start with the simplest:
This still doesn't explain how Grisha knew where to find the Reiss in hiding
If Historia will get Titan powers, why do I have a feeling tragedy is going to repeat itself, with Rod getting eaten?
Objectively speaking, this may give her all his knowledge and secrets
Since I'm of the idea that Titan powers are biotechnology, if we already have this, what surprise is there to have genetically-enhanced humans whose abilities can pass along bloodlines?
And while I'm at it, one of my theories right now is that the Coordinate was brought along to the "New Continent" to create a safe haven from the wild, out-of-control Titans, hence the Walls.
The more I think about it, the more I feel that the Ackermans' ancestors may have served as bodyguards for this long journey, without Titan powers
I am half right so far, let's see if the other half will come true.
I take it that it is implied that Levi is Kenny's nephew? And Mikasa is a descendant of the branch family, therefore a distant, distant relative of their's
If the Reiss' Memory Manipulation is indeed genetic technology, I wonder if the reason it doesn't work on certain races is due to technological limitations (ie only programmed to target one race, the "majority" in this case), or if that was the intention?
Like, maybe the Ackermans' ancestors knew about the Memory Manipulation, and in exchange for their protection, their bloodline cannot be targeted as a "guarantee"?
Eren is experiencing a guilt complex due to his inability to meet his high standards as humanity's greatest hope as well as being the son of a arguably the biggest criminal in mankind's history. We don't know the reason why he killed the Reiss family and stole the titan's ability for himself but his actions made mankind much more defenseless and as far as we know it was for no other reason for own personal gain and/or spite for the Reiss family when they apparently are the only ones who could properly utilize the titan's powers and save mankind. Not to mention he now remembers having eaten his own father, it really isn't hard to see how Eren finds his existence worthless. Historia's resolution to kill the titans probably sealed the deal as Eren perhaps sees Historia as a better successor who will succeed where he has failed.
I would like to add that Eren's mind is currently set to "what if"
"If the Titan Power wasn't stolen, maybe the Reiss really would've taken care of everything"
"If the Reiss would've taken care of everything, the squad he led during the Defense of Trost will still be alive"
"If I wasn't given the Power, the (previous) Levi Squad will still be alive"
"If it wasn't stolen, Dad will still be alive"
"If I never said I wanted to see the outside world, maybe things would've been better"
To Eren's merit, I commend him for remembering everyone who has died, and holding onto the pain of it all
That said, please conduct yourself and stand back up as a proper main character
But at the least, it is consoling that Historia has forgiven Eren somewhat
Kenny pretty much confirmed spoke all our opinions on Rod Reiss. Sucks that we can't verify if the reason "he can't be allowed to become a Titan" is truth or lie
In any case, it doesn't feel like he will live through this arc
A "Titan that was most suited for battle". Makes me wonder how much formula they have in safekeeping
So what is it? Given the situation, it needs to be strong right from the start, doesn't require (much) prior tutelage, and possibly keeps the user well-guarded
An Armored Titan perhaps?
