What a time to be alive
In a dark room, illuminated only by the faint light of an old lamp stands a very peculiar man. This man had what some would call, quite bad luck. This man had a total of 18 surgeries done to his body, none of these however were cosmetic nor anything he wished upon himself. What caused this many surgeries is a string of injuries which included 2 broken jaws, a fractured tibia, a broken orbital bone, Liver and Kidney failure, a multitude of slipped disks, a punctured lung and a brain tumor. Weather it could be called a gift or a curse, even with this many injuries, the man could not die, nor did he suffer any lasting affects aside from a chronic cough. Later due to his reputation, doctors in the local area would later call it a "Terminal Cough", these facts however are not important. What's more important is a phone call he is about to recieve.
Only the faint sound of water dripping from a leaky pipe can be heard in the background. A silence cut across the room, as what he heard from the phone call could only be considered a nightmare of sorts. The words "girl come back to bed" are uttered once more as they cut across the silence between the phone lines. The man could only hear the sound of his own heart beat.
This was not something those with a strong resolve would result to, espically those with this man's kind of luck. Finding out that his wife was cheating on him however was only the final nail in the coffin. It's not something that was decided on in the spur of the moment however, this is something he resolved to do as a child. It could hardly be called an action of a weak man but it couldn't be called sane either. His wife cheating on him was of no concern to him, he thought of it as a sweet release. Being self concious as this man was he was simply waiting for the perfect excuse, a cheating wife was good enough. However every time he tried to do this, he failed. In addition to 18 surgeries this man also had 174 suicide attempts.
In a dark room stands a man, 6 feet 5 inches tall, who could be called a man blessed with god's looks and the devil's charm. This is a man who has tried more than 170 times to kill himself, and every single time he failed. Every injury he ever sustained were because of attempts on his own life, all of which could have been successful had he not changed his mind at the very last moment every single time. This time however he has decided to take his own life via firearm. Once he has resolved to pull the trigger there was no way he could survive it.
He reached into a drawer and pulled out what can only be called a masterpiece. A modified .357 revolver. The faint light of the lamp danced across the barrel of the gun. He had fully resolved to pull the trigger, however being a businessman the first thing that poped in his head was potential loss. The things he would lose were not important to him however these were not the kinds of things a normal man would even have. On the list of things he would lose is a Multi Million Dollar Corperation, a beautiful wife, millions of dollars in gold and other precious stones and a future. The man had many years left on his life, as he was only 33 he had plenty of potential left in life. All of this however would be thrown away, in a dark, damp room in the middle of nowhere. And he put the gun to his head, and pulled the trigger.
The only thing that could be heard is one single "click" sound. A miniscule sound that lasted for less than a second, but it felt like an eternity to the only man that was there to hear it. The sound felt like it reverberated to the deepest regions of space and came back to haunt the man. The gun jammed. A very peculiar man indeed as when he simply put the gun down and said to himself "One hundred seventy six".
