Author: Yayoi Sou

Genre: Comdey, Drama, School Life, Webtoon

Summary: The story follows Kaizaki Arata, a 27-year-old jobless man who fails at every job interviews he had after quitting his last company which he only last three months. His life changes after he meets Yoake Ryou of the ReLife Research Institute, who offers him a drug that can change his appearance into a 17-year-old again and to become a subject in a one-year experiment in which he begins his life as a high school student again.

Chapter 1 here and the latest translated chapter here.

Very interesting and fun premise and I like the colorful cast of characters. And yes, this is a Japanese Webcomic not a Korean one. This comic is posted every friday on the Comico website and there are currently 71 chapters in total so we got a lot of catching up to do. I've been following this series before the one month hiatus started with the translations but now it seems Whiteout Scans' newest translator will be dedicated to this project which is why I made this thread. They released 6 chapters in the past week which I'm happy about.

And for those of you you who don't know, this series has been announced to receive a TV Anime adaptation slated for 2016. Can't wait since I am really enjoying this series. A very fun comedy with some good developments incoming in the future.

Onoya is best girl.  :hmph: Team Onoya.

I'm surprised this story isn't more popular around here. Likable characters that aren't cookie cutter, interesting story, good comedy and romance. A real hidden gem.

Oh I am a big fan of it too... Just didn't know there was a thread for it till @RamenRenegade bumped it

I felt it started slowly; but once they got into school, it was a blast. The characters are so well written. I think part of the reason why it isn't as popular, is due to the fact its rather new *as in being translated*. Everyone gotta read this~

At the moment the translator group is attempting a chapter a day! Pretty good, considering Kubera is getting a chapter a week... if that...

Yeah, I noticed that it's being translated lightning fast. That makes me happy. You're right about the slow start but the characters in this are very good so it's worth going though. I have my theories of who the first experiment was and why Arata was chosen, as well as what the "whole truth" is. I'm interested how close my theories are.

My pet theory is that the black haired girl was the first victim, particularly noting that she knew the supervisor by first name basis, even though she doesn't have any friends. I bet Arata has an inkling of it too... We'll see how it goes!

The translators site is http://www.whiteoutscans.com by the way~

Damn. So my theory isn't very unique, I see. Lol! Oh well, I also believe the the "whole truth" is that Arata was selected for the express purpose of getting Hoshiro to come out of her shell. Im thinking that despite her intelligence she has an issue dealing with people and thus cant keep jobs (which is why she became a NEET) She was chosen for reLIFE so she could learn to be more friendly. Unfortunatly she failed and fell back into her old ways, until Arata showed up. That said, I don't think he has a clue about her possibly being an adult at all at this point.

    @RamenRenegade

Well so much for that theory, now we know who the other relife subject was... I can kinda see now why the supervisor was in trouble after her..

Okay, I'm confused. I just read up to chapter 73 and there was no mention of the 1st person. Did I miss something?

Its in chapter 71, where she talks about that person who was bullied, that person who she just >cant< remember the face of.  Do those aftereffects sound familiar?

Indeed, the Hishiro's ex-classmate could very feasibly have been Subject No. 1.

Remembering actions, but forgetting the particulars like facial features, is consistent with how Yoake says, in chapter 44, Kairu will recall Arata's counseling session one year afterwards.

The described bullying done to Hishiro's ex-classmate implies that the ex-classmate was, aside from Hishiro's well-meaning intentions to help, left to struggle with this on her own.

Chapter 24 and 55 suggests that Yoake was passive in assistance for the previous subject, which matches up with how the bullying was handled by everyone.

Koe no Katachi is brought to mind: bullying in Japan is often ignored by other students and even teachers.

Furthermore, as Hishiro lists her regret, Yoake's eyes are hidden, which often indicates emotional stress, while An's eyes shift towards him. However, his right index finger isn't pressing against himself ala chapter 55. Hm!

Chapter 31 brings up journal entries that gives the impression that the previous subject, unlike Arata, did not attempt to change anything, be it herself* or her* surroundings. This does not contradict Hishiro's guess that her ex-classmate wanted to hold onto her precariously balanced world.

Well, Hishiro isn't one to remember names (read: The Cigarette Guy, The Red Haired Girl Who Did 7.38 Seconds, The Braided Glasses Girl, etc), so who knows!

*female pronoun used here without outright confirmation in-story.

All the ReLife fans are coming out of the woodwork! No idea, all I know is that we're getting close to where the Japanese version is, so releases may slow down soon...

This current arc hasn't been doing it for me much so I hope we move on soon after everything is settled here. I hope Kariu doesn't become the center of the problem again in the next arc.

Just caught up to this series, so far, I have enjoyed it immensely. I can imagine it being adapted into a live action  movie (which I hope they will not butcher).

The anime version was good, though short.

Oh yeah I read the manga now too, after I watched the anime ^^ It's really great, although the whole drama around Karui was a bit meh. after that got resolved the series picked up again and became good again, so I'm really entertained at the moment.

The latest chapter showed a new clas mate with face :o and the money really got stolen? I bet Hishiro has just put it somewhere else, somewhere "safe".
