The mangaka for D.Gray-Man is even sicker, but has better art too. So...

I disagree, I can barely make out the scenes

like the Alma Karma arc, I couldn't make out anything. The only thing I know for sure was Kanada stabbed Allen.

I think that's something unique to individuals rather than entirely based on the mangaka's art.

Just because, I remember having discussions about various panels in Bleach where people weren't sure what happened, how the characters got in the position they're standing in, or what Kubo was zooming all the way in on to emphasize. What can also be difficult is Kubo will have a character make a complex movement, but only show us their stance after finishing the movement and the reader has to work out what the character did to get from where they were last page to what they're doing now.

I can't remember having that much difficulty with D. Gray-Man.

And basically you didn't read everything.

No, I read every single last line. I read every post when I enter into subforum out of respect for my fellow posters on OMF.  Please don't presume to know what I have or haven't done  :meh:

I'm mindful of tone, and the arguments that are being made.  And I have concluded that My circumstantial evidence  >>>> yours. Whether or not you agree with that is up to you.

The only bone I have to pick is with someone who literally disappeared in the final arc.

I finally got the chance to read his tweet. It's actually a sad story.

I always supported Bleach, probably more than some people, but even I felt robbed with that rushed ending. But man, if Kubo was that bad (regarding his health), then I'm happy he ended Bleach the way he wanted when he first wrote the Death and Strawberry. It's not always easy for a mangaka to end his story the way he planned to in the beginning.

Sure the events that led to Bleach ending and ships and professions could've been better, but overall, I still consider Bleach one of my favourite manga, and I still think Kubo is a great, really great artist.

Same here. Pretty often the scenes look like a mess.

Actually, I feel like Kubo's art is "clean". People might complain about lack of backgrounds, for example, but it was never an issue for me; background is not important. Lack of detailed background also provides more clarity, I think (at least in some cases).

But we can agree that it's up to the reader and his taste. Personally, I liked DGM's earlier art style than the newer one, but oh well. I dropped it anyway, so it doesn't matter.

She took break though. So when she draws, she is mostly healthy.

I'm not talking about the subjective aspect of art anw. Obviously, people have different opinions about whose art is better. I am talking about how properly done Kubo's artwork was. As in he didn't let illness (if he did have it) interfere with his production's quality. Togashi's infamous HxH draft-ish pages (or scribbles) are one prime example, haha.

Isn't that more about panel arrangement or angles than art itself?

Well, you have to question what "quality" means when he usually skips drawing the backgrounds.

As well as him saying in the twitter post that he felt he wasn't meeting the standards for quality that he felt he should.

Maybe he wanted to draw backgrounds and just didn't have time.

Isn't that just his style? And not drawing something doesn't have anything to do with the art itself, does it?

Doesn't matter. That just means his standard is even higher than mine. But it doesn't change the fact that he properly finished his manga and didn't submit scribbles or anything short of his usual art level.

Besides, did he say art? Cause he may have talked about the story's quality?

Didn't know the author was a woman...

Debating whether I want to follow Kubo on twitter or not.  Bleach really made me hate shonen manga but...he's still probably one of my favorite all time artists...
