Now that the last episodes of the fall season are wrapping up I guess it's time to make this thread. I mostly kept things the same as DEW did last year but with some additional questions as well as adding an awards section. Since we all probably watched vastly different stuff feel free to ignore any questions that don't apply.

1. What did you watch this year? Both airing this year and already completed.

Alright The JoE's gonna keep it 100, he has barely watched any anime this year. I've been a bit distant from the anime/manga culture for most of the year, you know? It's one of those phases where you've been active in something so long, sometimes you need to fall back a bit to get the passion back 

 

And it's back, so I'm gonna work on my to-watch list during my vacation and I'll be a bit more active on here 

 

As far as stuff that I have seen this year. I have watched DragonBall Super, Onepunchman and Fate Zero. As for what I'm looking forward to for 2017, well it's pretty much my To-watch list (Which is kinda long to remember atm)

This is probably the biggest contender for Anime of 2016. 

 

Some older stuff I actually watched was a bunch of Miyazaki movies, Welcome to the NHK and Railgun, mostly on a whim.

Hmm. A monthly topic a la the old weekly discussions? It sorta depends on how much time people want to spend their day analysing and debating meta-topics though. History suggests you can't do much about it really

3. Flying Witch, Sweetness & Lightning,

4. Joker Game, 91 Days, and Orange. I liked all three but they all had rather noticeable flaws that got glossed over by most fans.

5. Asterisk War. It was average at best but I loved the characters in it (Team Sayato)

6. I enjoyed this year a little more at least from what I watched

7. Danganronpa 3 due to trying to figure out the various mysteries behind the Final Killing Game which turned out to not be worth it since the creators didn't put much thought into it themselves.

1. They were pretty good, with only a few exceptions (looking at you Mayoiga) they were usually among the best that season had to offer.
2. Re:Zero, Shouwa, and Alderamin
3. Danganronpa 3 in terms of discussion it had more than three clubhouse choices that season combined.
4. None in particular, I think it's fine to have a nice mix of different things.
5. Try not to shy away from more popular or well known series since those tend to be the ones that attract more of an audience and thus have a better chance of generating discussion.

I feel like we had some great choices this year between Erased and Re:Zero which took the anime world by storm and we also had (imo) the masterpiece that was Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu as well as Drifters, Orange and 91 Days which were all great series as well 

 

2. Favorite series we've picked? Per season if you wish.

Winter: Shouwa, Spring: Re:Zero, Summer: 91 Days, Fall: Drifters

 

3. Any series you think we should've chosen?

Winter: Grimgar instead of Dimension W (Good series imo but Grimgar was imo the second best of the season), Spring: Bungou Stray Dogs instead of Mayoiga, Summer: None, Fall: Magical Girl Raising Project instead of Occult;Nine

 

4. Genres / themes you would like us to focus on more?

Doesn't really matter to me as long as the synopsis and staff are intriguing

 

5. Any suggestions to stir the discussion pot a bit more?

We all gotta try to be more active with posting (I plan to be super active again come January)....Maybe we can watch episodes together even if possible (Which I doubt unless we just chose a designated time to watch things when everyone will be free to do so)

I couldn't even remember by myself what I watched this year, so no way I can compare with last year. But I'd say this one was a good year for anime : 3

Airing this year, none. 

Overall, it will always be Evangelion.

Second season of Drifters. Though I'm not even sure it's airing in 2017. 
Otherwise, I'm looking forward for the new anime of Cardcaptor Sakura

2017 looks like it will kill 2014-16? What's in it? Our taste is different so your hype may not be my hype but if there's something that can ''kill'' Ping Pong, Shirobako, BBB and Mushishi (heard Gatchaman, Euphonium and OreGairu are also great) then...I'm dead cause I'm killed, too (so far my only known hype is BBB2 (which I doubt can kill those 4 listed above except for its season 1) and Uchouten Kazoku 2. The latter's announcement came 3 hours after I finished it so I can't help but think ''it's FATE'' LOL).

Well in terms of popular shows we got Attack on Titan S2, Code Geass S3, Blue Exorcist S2, Boku no Hero Academia S2, The final season of Gintama, Boruto the Anime, FLCL S2 and most people are expecting OPM S2 and Nanatsu no Taizai S2 to also drop next year (Most likely in the Fall but as of right now we only have 2017 anime that are confirmed for releases up to Spring season so we could get even more cool announcements soon).....And I guess we can include the next season of Samurai Jack here too

Then in terms of shows that imo have quality, we have Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu S2 (Which imo is the true best anime of 2016), KonoSuba S2 (One of the best comedies of 2016), Kekkai Sensen S2 (One of my favorite Clubhouse picks of 2015), The DanMachi spin off featuring Aiz (The other strong contender for best girl next to Hestia), Shingeki no Bahamut S2 (THIS ended up being one of the better shows of 2014 and I must also say that 2014 was a year of AWESOME Openings and this series' OP was on the level on things like Unravel and Parasyte's OP imo so hopefully the second season has a badass OP too), Saekano S2 (Which was also one of my favorites of 2015 with imo such a likable cast of girls), Gundam Thunderbolt S2 and last but definitely not least, the sequel to my favorite Space Opera anime of all time, Space Battleship Yamato 2202

Now in terms of new hits, there's a lot that I'm personally excited for either because of what I've heard about/experienced first hand in regards to their respective source material (Youjo Senki), their staff/creator or just via the synopsis alone and those ones include:

Clockwork Planet
Renai Bouken
The Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Chain Chronicle (This is airing next season and although it's not anything groundbreaking, this series imo is the good example of how you take a generic concept and really turn it into something fun and entertaining to watch)
Atom: The Beginning (The Astro Boy prequel story)
Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii desu ka?

Honestly there's no info on whether or not it's gonna be a remake, sequel or spinoff... All we know is that its dropping in 2017 lol
